I am David Segal, a counsellor with experience working with couples and individuals.

I hold a Master of Counselling degree from the University of Canberra, awarded in 2023. In addition, I have completed a Graduate Diploma of Counselling in 2019 whilst working at Menslink in Canberra providing no-cost counselling to young guys aged 10-25. Before that a Graduate Certificate of Community Counselling in 2015, specifically to enhance my ability to support university students during my time as Dean of Residence at the Australian National University. These qualifications have equipped me with specialized counselling techniques, enabling me to effectively address the unique challenges faced by university undergraduate and postgraduate students.

I’ve done a few other things before this but hey, we are talking about counselling right?

Throughout my counselling journey, I have remained committed to helping individuals overcome trauma mainly from sexual & domestic violence, anxiety, grief from interpersonal loss, substance use, and emotional problems that lead to anger. With over 600 client hours, I have provided support using evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Some of my clients just need a few sessions to learn new approaches to managing problems. Others seek therapy over a longer time frame so they have that consistent support from the same counsellor.

Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy diving into the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, exploring my creativity through woodturning, staying active with swimming and personal fitness, quality time with my children, taking on renovation projects, cooking up delicious meals, engaging in gaming, taking peaceful walks in the rainforest, connecting with people, and continuously expanding my knowledge and skills.
